Lighthouse Community Church was “born again” in the spring of 2004 as the congregation moved into a new building with a new name. The location did not change, but the attitude and heart of the congregation did! From a congregation seeking to minister to the needs of its members, Lighthouse began to be what its name implies – a light to the community and to the world. God’s people began to express God’s call to reach out to the world in new ways and in the past two years attendance at worship has risen from 175 to 350 on Sunday mornings. There are now two morning services, at 8:15 and 10:45 a.m.
Lighthouse has become a church focused on mission -- mission to the community, to West Michigan and, literally, to the world. Nearly 30% of its members participated in some sort of mission trip or mission project last year (2006), and trips are being planned to Haiti, Guatemala, Kenya, Uganda, and China in the near future. In addition, missions to Kentucky, Mississippi, Chicago, and other places where there are needs are also being planned. Lighthouse takes evangelism, the proclaiming of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, seriously, and works to train its members in sharing their faith in Jesus Christ with their friends, families, co-workers, classmates, and neighbors. Our mission is to bring light to the darkness, love to the hurting, and the LORD to the world. We seek to fulfill the Great Commission and the Great Commandments: to make disciples of Jesus as we love God with all our heart, soul, mind and strength, and our neighbors as ourselves.
Our worship is contemporary, led by our Worship Leader and Praise Team. We allow God to lead in the selection of music that stirs the heart and which draws people of all generations into the presence of the only true God, whom we desire to worship passionately! We believe that it is in knowing and loving God that people are inspired to serve. We have a dynamic Children’s Ministry with a part-time Director, and a powerful Youth Ministry, led by a full-time Youth Pastor who has been at Lighthouse for six years and who desires to reach out to the community. Adults are encouraged to grow and to serve through discipleship classes and we have nearly 200 people involved in our Small Group Ministry.
In short, God is doing great things at Lighthouse Community Church and we invite you to be a part of what He has planned for the future. As we seek to be obedient to His call upon our lives, we trust in His power that is at work within us to accomplish all that HE desires. Then, to HIM goes the glory and praise!!
